Associate Director Software Engineering - Credit Card Platform

We are looking for an Engineering leader to join our team in Charlotte, NC. You will manage and grow a team of software engineers, manage and scale our portfolio of financial wellness products, and provide technical partnership to our business and product teams. This role serves on OneMain's Credit Card Engineering leadership team and has direct ownership of customer facing applications.

Responsibilities:

  • You will lead and grow the credit card acquisitions team, with an active focus on hiring and onboarding new team members to be successful in their roles.

  • You will ensure a reliable experience for BrightWay customers across all properties, while simultaneously enabling a rapid pace of development and agile iteration.

  • You are responsible for supporting a culture of code quality, documentation, and thoughtful design tradeoffs. Anticipate strategic and scaling challenges via intentional long-term planning.

  • As a technical lead, you will oversee affiliates integration with the core acquisitions platform

  • You will interface directly with company and technology leaders to ensure your team's activities align with the overall product and company goals

  • You will be responsible for the quality of software released and shipping features at a steady clip

  • You will ensure our production applications are stable and operating as expected

  • You will guide team leads along their career paths and provide feedback; oversee the cadence of meetings, code reviews, and project management

  • You will identify and address bottlenecks early and solve technical problems

  • You will contribute to our strategic technology planning

  • You will assist with fleshing out, prioritizing, and driving our product roadmap

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, preferably multiple teams, in an agile environment

  • 5+ years of full time, full-stack web application development experience across frontend, backend, and infrastructure and have a solid understanding of technical fundamentals.

  • 3+ years of experience working with Angular, Node.js, and typescript.

  • Strong track record of recruiting and retaining high performing engineering talent.

  • A history of hands-on technical ownership on high-impact engineering projects.

  • Strong command of verbal and written communication to drive alignment and collaboration across functional teams.

  • Ability to interface with and influence leaders across an organization with poise

  • Competency to foster and build a culture of success, accountability and teamwork

  • Experience in guiding the development of observable systems with robust metrics and alerts

  • Overseeing the build and consumption of RESTful APIs

  • Ability to navigate in a nimble environment and drive success in unknown territory

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field

Desired Skills:

  • Prior financial knowledge with a focus on acquisition and origination.

  • Strong understanding of AWS and supporting services.

  • Experience implementing and scaling distributed systems.

  • Deep knowledge of Micro Service orchestration patterns

Location: Hybrid schedule. In-office in Charlotte, NC on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.
