Systems Engineer - Architecture Trades and Studies - Advanced Development Programs

As part of a team of engineers you'll primarily support the Space Mobility program area. In this role you will lead all inter-subsystem trade studies that affect system-level architecture and requirements for a program. This includes trades that impact system SWaP (Size, Weight, Power), link budgets, level 2 &3 requirements, deltaVee, etc. You will work closely across elements and subsystems (including C&DH, GNC, EPS, etc.) to assign actions, track progress, hold stakeholders accountable, and deliver final recommendations and supporting information for each trade study. This role requires spacecraft-level general design and analysis experience and deep technical expertise in at least one spacecraft subsystem.

This opportunity reports to the Systems Engineering Section inside of the Advanced Development Programs ADP business unit. Responsibilities:

  • Guide the completion and primarily supportthe Space Mobility program area
  • Lead all inter-subsystem trade studies that affect system-level architecture and/or requirements for a program
  • Work closely across elements and subsystems (including C&DH, GNC, EPS, etc.) to assign actions, track progress, hold stakeholders accountable, and deliver final recommendations and supporting information for each trade study
  • Apply understanding on a wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts, and tools
  • Have inter-organizationalinteractions as a technical point of contact

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one spacecraft subsystem
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operations
  • Ability to use sophisticated engineering skills used to design, develop, and evaluate systems
  • Experience providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired (but not required):

  • Successful candidates typically have2 to 5years of relevant experience
  • M.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
