Summary

NOTE: This temporary position provides basic first aid treatment for the Great Lakes Loons Baseball games and special events within Dow Diamond.

(30%)* Assess any injuries and determines the level of response necessary.

(30%)* Performs any necessary basic first-aid using proper technique and PPE.

(20%)* Contacts EMS for any urgent injuries that are beyond the scope of basic first aid.

(20%)* Makes any necessary referrals to an Emergency Room, Urgent Care or Personal Physician and assists in a collaborative manner to facilitate care and follow up if necessary.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the MyMichigan Health Director Employee Health and Wellness Services performs basic first aid as needed at the Dow Diamond for the Great Lakes Loons games and other special events.

Provide appropriate education in writing for any necessary follow up that may be required.

Provide referral information to any patient in need that does not have a personal physician through MyMichigan Health Line.

Documents and maintains logs of injuries, treatment and referrals and submits to the Manager of Employee Health and to the Great Lakes Loons.

Checks inventory and completes necessary ordering form to maintain adequate stock in First-Aid Station after each game and forward to the Employee Health Office Clerk.

Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the First-Aid Station at the end of each shift.

Adheres to MyMichigan Health policies for rules of conduct, appearance and absenteeism, substance abuse, immunizations and Post Exposure etc.

MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.

An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge of Advanced first aid technique as normally acquired through completion of an accredited LPN, RN, Paramedic, or EMT program required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed as annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.

May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.

Must follow MyMichigan Health blood-borne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.

May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Medium.

Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
