Principal Software Engineer - Data Platform

Data is the lifeblood of an organization and integration services is the arterial system responsible to sustain and nourish the enterprise. We are a team of enablers building the arterial systems of the company that is building the road to space to benefit the earth.

As an engineering leader with vision, your passion for customer experience and developer enablement will influence product strategy, roadmap and delivery of our data platform to enable federated data development across Blue Origin. This position requires a dedication to customer experience, and operational excellence!

• Be the data management solution engineering champion for Blue Origin and it's partners
• Design, develop and maintain metadata driven data pipeline automation framework(s) for batch, event and streaming data in cloud native environment
• Develop data modeling standards, governance, automation frameworks and developer tooling to standardize and accelerate data delivery across the organization.
• Design and implement data models for APIs/Events/Batch based system and data integration
• Rapid prototyping and communicating proof of concepts for key technology decision to collaborators and other technology leaders.
• Build end to end data pipelines from source to target ensuring data quality, consistency and observability using DataOps principles
• Coach and mentor fellow and junior engineers
  

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ year enabling engineers/developers with delivery accountability
• 3+ years of cloud native data solutions enabling Analytics, Operational, Data Science and ML use cases
• 3+ years of hand on experience in metadata management, metadata driven automation and developer efficiency tooling
• 3+ year of large scale event-driven and streaming solutions in cloud native environment
• 5+ years with advanced SQL and scripting (python/bash etc.) development
• Experience creating and publishing industry influencing solutions and practices
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  

• Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar analytical field.
• Manufacturing and/or Aerospace experience
• Experience working/collaborating with Master Data Management, Metadata Management and Data Governance
