About the Job

The Division of Health Policy and Management, located in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota, invites applicants for a full-time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (non-tenure track) position to begin June 1, 2022. This position will support teaching and advising needs within the residential and executive tracks of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) Program, currently ranked #2 nationally by U.S. News and World Report. Specifically, the MHA Program has immediate needs for expertise in the area of healthcare finance with additional opportunities in related areas (accounting, strategy, marketing, negotiations, and leadership). In addition to teaching and advising, this individual will participate in faculty meetings and non-degree MHA programming as well as Program, Division, and School committees.

The School of Public Health is committed to anti-racism and anti-oppression in our mission and operations. In pursuit of this goal, we consider an individual's record working with students and colleagues from historically marginalized backgrounds and experience identifying and eliminating systemic barriers to academic success. Because the SPH and the Division seek to increase the diversity of its workforce, we particularly encourage applications from those who belong to groups that have been historically underrepresented in our discipline, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color, those with disabilities, and those from LGBTQIA+ communities.

About the Job
Primary responsibilities are related to Master's level teaching and advising, including:

1) Teaching multiple (in-person and hybrid) graduate courses in healthcare administration, specifically healthcare finance as well as strategy, marketing, negotiations, or leadership. Number of credits ranges from 10-13 credits/year (equivalent to 4-5 courses per year).
2) Providing career and academic advising to residential and executive students
3) Offering extracurricular enrichment opportunities for MHA students, including case competition coaching and support of student-led organizations
4) Serving on Program, Division, or School committees

Although not an official responsibility of this position, independent research would be supported if the individual is research active. The Division and School offer numerous resources and opportunities for collaboration with other faculty and academic staff, as well as strong health system partnerships across the state.

Appointment and Compensation: The position is a 12-month salaried appointment with an anticipated effort of approximately 85% teaching and advising and 15% service and administrative responsibilities. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Division
Successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary Division faculty and academic staff of more than 40 faculty and academic staff. The Division has three other active teaching programs with a combined enrollment of over 200 students, including an MPH program in Public Health Administration and Policy as well as MS and PhD programs in Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration. The Division is one of four in the School of Public Health, and enjoys close working relations with healthcare delivery and financing organizations locally and across the country, as well as governmental agencies at the local, state and national levels. Information about the Division is available at: https://www.sph.umn.edu/academics/divisions/hpm.
