Position Summary
The MSU Denver Chemistry & Biochemistry Teaching Assistant (TA) Program provides currently enrolled students the opportunity to work on campus and gain valuable experience in the area of chemistry that they are most excited about. The TA's that work alongside our facility in the areas of general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and biochemistry. A teaching assistant can improve their teaching/mentoring skills and learn complex concepts in their specific subject area. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain real hands-on lab experience such as learning how to run instrumentation, analyze data and improve wet chemistry techniques. #LI- DNI
Duties/Responsibilities
Chemistry and Biochemistry teaching assistants will assist students with experiment set-up and concepts. The teaching assistants answer questions about the laboratory work and help guide students into understanding how/why the experiment works. TA's assist in the cleaning of the lab and analyzing/interpreting data. TA's will also run analysis on student samples using various instrumentation such as, but not limited to, NMR, IR, GC, HPLC and AA spectroscopy.
Required Qualifications
MUST BE A STUDENT ENROLLED AT AN APPROVED COLORADO HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION
* Must be a current MSU Denver Student
* Students must have completed both semesters of general chemistry and one semester of organic chemistry or analytical chemistry with a B or higher in all labs.
* Must have a firm grasp on the concepts learned in lecture and enjoy working in laboratory setting.
* The applicant should be interested in a teaching or management career in the sciences and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
* Please provide Faculty Recommendation Letter as Other Documents.
Preferred Qualifications
* The applicant should enjoy working with their peers as a mentor and have a positive attitude.

Benefits
MSU Denver offers temporary, non-benefit eligible employees sick leave. The sick leave is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed a maximum of 48 hours in a calendar year.
